NEED HELP ASAP with swap!!
ok so today i finished hooking everything up....i turned it over and small leaks here and there but i fixed them. the problem is i turn it over and now it just dies! doesnt even get a chance to idle. i dont know what is wrong. anyone have some ideas?
if i turn it over and it fires for that split second, and you mess with the trottle it will stay running but it will end up dying.
the only thing not hooked up is VTEC, but it shouldn't matter right? like if vtec were to fail the car still should run and start just without vtec right? unless the ecu needs to see the signal from it or the ground needs to be hooked up?
the Distributor was damaged when i got the engine so i got a new coil, cap, and rotor, but maybe something internal got smashed?

i just swapped a b16 in my 96 ex and i was having the same problem but it was my rotor and coil, then the grounds werent good so i cleaned them up, hope you figure it out soon im not sure on the vtech, sorry.
your correct the vtec does not need to be hooked up for the car to run. double check all grounds including the thermostat one, make sure they all clean and tight. also make sure your rotor button screw is tight.
Ok, you can laugh at me,
the problem was, that i connected the TPS sensor plug to the MAP sensor and the MAP sensor plug to the TPS sensor. cause on my car at least, the length of wire is very different so you would assume that the shorter wired plug would go to the closest sensor and the longest to the furter sensor right? wrong, in my case anyway....but She fired right up after that and MY GOD she sounds good...
thats to everyone who threw some answers out there
