Default Oil FAQ

Alright, here it is! Feel free to share your experiences with different types of oil. But, bear in mind (Especially you newbs) that what is in this first post is FACTUAL EVIDENCE, not word of mouth, hype soaked opinions.

Pretty much everything you could ever need to know about Oil in general - http://www.bobistheoilguy.com

The Oil Bible! Source for the ranking list below, as well as a VERY informative piece of literature - http://www.zag.si/~jank/public/bmw/oil_bible.pdf

Below is a list of oils ranked on a number of factors, resulting in a final "score." These are scientifically proven results produced by un-biased parties with one goal in mind, finding the best oil.

(I took screen shots straight from the oil bible, starting on page 156 for 5w30 rankings. Copy and pasting jumbled up all the text and made it nearly impossible to read).

That sounds like something a Royal Purple commercial would tell you lol

Can't argue the facts posted above, and no changes have been made significant enough to modify this ranking.

I can't believe Quaker State is rated higher than Mobil 1.... Looks like I'm going to be doing some reading.

Amsoil is good stuff. Royal Purple is over-rated. When I get cheap I buy Havoline or Valvoline, both good quality oils.....I wonder where Advance auto parts oil would rank? lol
