Default oil leak: NEED HELP FAST

i just changed my oil a few days ago and now theres a little leak just by the drain plug. i had this problem my last oil change but i just changed the gasket on the drain plug. but this time it doesnt work. if i put the gasket, the drain plug will not tighten all the way. so i decided just to screw in the plug without the gasket and now it is leaking just a little bit. when i did use the gasket on the plug it leaked more because it couldnt be tightened all the way. what would be the best solution for this problem?

Well it depends on what the problem is. You can use thin rubber gasket like a washer, but just make sure its really thin. I hope you didnt over tighten the drain plug, as you could have stripped the threads in the oil pan. Id get a new drain plug, that might have a few messed up threads causing the leak. Maybe some nylon thread tape will work if ya just wrap some of that around the threads of the oil plug and then screw it in there. Remember, not too tight.......get a torque wrench if need be.

i agree with pete. it sounds like you might have overtightened it and stripped it. you dont want too much on these or they will strip. use a very thin gasket if any.

The stripped bolt things might be correct, in this case you need a new oil pan i believe. You could tap the hole as well. But there is a small washer that goes in between the pan and the drain plug. If your missing this, you will have a leak. Its like $3.00 for a new drain plug from Honda (the guy at Honda gave me a free washer).

i have already tried putting the washer. but when i put it, the plug it wont tighten all the way . i have tried putting a thin plastic washer and the regular washer and it still does the same thing. when i dont put a washer it tightens all the way, but leaks a little oil.

What do you mean by tighten all the way? Try getting a torque wrench, if you need the torque spec i can get it for you pretty easily.

Just go spend 10 bucks and see if this fixes it. Get a new drain plug and some TEFLON TAPE. Wrap a single layer of teflon tape around the plug and screw it back in. It should fix it. If it doesnt, im going to assume you messed up the threads on the oil pan itself, and need a new one.

They sell drain plugs that are designed to help this situation at parts stores... It's not really the right way to go about doing this but it'll work.
