SOHC means there is one cam (single over head cam) operating all of the valves on your engine. DOHC (dual overhead cams) means there is a seperate cam for intake valves and exhaust valves

next you should get cams, cam gears, get the head ported and polished, get a AEM fuel rail or which ever, a after market intake manifold either from skunk2 or elb, v-tec controller. those should get you moving pretty strong before turbo.

better yet..pull your engine and get it performance sleaved then make ur bottom end strong as hell. then you could boost it no problem. but get a good bottom end and then work on the top end (valves/valvetrain, cams, polish the header adn maybe get a valve job) then boost it and u'll have one badass SOHC

basically you take your engine in somewhere..they grind down the sleves you have and put new sleves in..and if you want thicker ones then tell them..they will bore it bigger to fit thicker sleves.
