swapped internals

LMFAO you need not give advice if it takes you 5 and a half hours to take a head off a D series. Use a Z6 block as the 96+ blocks have oiling issues.

Good advice, but, if you do want to stick with the y8 block, the oiling issues are fairly easily resolved.

i really dont want my daily driver going up in smoke so are there any alternatives to make power than doing full on swaps? I have i/h/e but i would really like to get the internals done somehow without wrecking anything so is there anything i can upgrade or swap with out getting myself in to deep?

Seriously, its 10 bolts, slip off the T belt and youre good to go. (After intake and exhaust manis are off)
not if you use one from a 99/00 civic ex automatic
Edit--I am saying to use a 90/00 ex automatic manifold as everything bolts right on, no ecu changes need to be made, no sensors need to be altered. But a 96-00 ex manual transmission will give you the best gain at first. Then do a Intake manifold, and then if you plan on staying non-vtec with your head get in contact with delta cams and have them regrind a cam for your engine, use all Y8 vlave terrain(springs, valves, retainers, etc, etc).
Do that and get a excedy stg 1 oem replacement clutch, have your stock flywheel shaved to 13/14 pounds, get lightweight wheel like Rota's or some 92-95 civic vx rims or get some 96-00 civic hx rims.
All this can be done for around $1000 to $1300ish and you would have a very snappy/responsive setup and you will suprise alot with it trust me.

Im still trying to find the intake manifold and im going to hold off on the tranny swap until the summer. I would like to swap to vtec but how hard would it be and should i use the Y8 or the Z6 and will everything match up right? Should i have the flywheel shaved or just buy a differnt performance one?

^ Agreed
. My mech who has never touched a Honda managed to break apart my entire engine in under 5 hours.
