Default trying to figure out my motor

i got a 92 honda civic and i dont know what kind of motor i have in it. It's got a lot of miles on it, so it either needs to be replaced or rebuilt.

How do I tell what kind of motor I have?

Try using the Search Feature for basic questions like this, a lot of people ask these types of questions. But anyway, stand in front of your car, looking straight at the engine (with the hood up of course..heh heh), and towards the low - mid region of the left hand side front of the block, there is a flat piece with the engine code stamped on it. Mine says D16Y8, yours will say something similar.

whats a trim level?
I'm very much a noob.
the sparks are more toward the rear. but they enter directly through the top of the valve cover.

I drive a 1999 Honda Civic EX, so my trim level would be "EX."

nice i dont like sunroofs either :P

you have a D16A6, its SOHC (single overhead cam...do some lookin around here if your not sure what that means and want to...its a bit in depth because it leads too about the whole top end of the engine) non VTEC.

edit: my bad...its a D15B7. rockin the 8 valve dude . your makin about 102 hp...give or take a couple.

well the previous owner must have swapped the original motor because it says 16 valve on the valve cover
