I used high temp gasket sealer. It was a bit difficult getting the valve cover on because it was always falling out of its groove.

For whatever reason, the previous person used some white gasket sealant near the ends.

Default Valve Cover Gasket Timing Chain

Need to replace the valve cover gasket.

Got 300,000 on the engine and the timing chain is due in the next 25,000.

If I decide to do the timing belt (in about a year) myself then will I need to replace the valve cover gasket again?

Thanks,
John

i think honda recommends changing the valve cover gasket every time you remove the valve cover, but i don't think it's really necessary to change it that often. it should be fine to reuse

Just a side note about torque wrenches, to convert ft/lbs to in/lbs mutilply by 12 and in/lbs to ft/lbs divide by 12. The lowest most ft/lbs wrenches go is 5, and the lowest in/lbs go is 3.
