RE: what bearings to use?
I wouldnt use ACL RACE Bearings unless its really a RACE motor. If you are going to use ACLs, the least I would put are the regular bearings.
On a side note: I dont recommend ACLs at all in any rebuild. Many have been lucky with it since their motors have pretty close clearances to what
the ACLs fit to, but in a good number of cases, a "UNIVERSAL" sized bearing like the ACLs are not the right way to rebuild the block.
The ACLs do fit the an acceptable "range". But keep in mind that a certain measurement might be off a bit and can cause one to be tigher than the others
or the opposite, of some being looser than the others. So you dont get the Exact clearance on each one. We get some customers ending up sending their blocks to us since the ACLs they put in ended up with spun bearings after a few thousand miles.
It's your call on what to use, just wanted to put my 2 cents from our experiences.
