Default what is the big diff between b18c1 and b18c5 engines?

i want to drop a b18 into my 95 civic coupe, the only thing is i want the hp performance the b18c5 from a type r integra puts out, but to buy one with ecu and wiring harness is about $6000 w/o shipping. I can get a b18c1 for about half, but again, i want the type r hp. is there a big diff in the two motors, or can i use a gsr block and type r head, or vise versa, to achieve the 200 hp im looking for.

the b18c1 is USDM and the c5 is JDM. the c5 has a different head which raises compression, and i dont think it flows as well. it also has a slightly bigger cam (i think) because japan doesnt have the carb laws that the US has.

theyre the same block.

If you want to turbo in the future, get the GSR. The higher compression on the B18C5 will give you all kinds of headaches, and will burn a serious hold in your wallet, ****, youll porbably need a new wallet. But, if on the other hand you want to run an N/A car, then the ITR motor is the way to go. Both of these engines can make all the horsepower youre porbably going to want (or more accuarately afford), it just depends on how you want to get there.

Also, if you get the GSR instead, think of it as having 3000 dollars to buy other things for your car (cough turbo cough).

im hitting type r power levels on my jdm gsr, with only a cat-back, high flow cat, intake manifold, walbro fuel pump, and an AEM CAI. thats way less expensive than a type r motor. but of course I still dont have the LSD tranny.[&:]

the compression difference is o.6 and the def in hp is 25hp the c5 putting out 10.6-1 and 195 hp and is an obd2 motor, the c1 can be either obd1 or2

The thing about both the C5 and the B16B engines is that they are both internaly balanced from the factory and both have a factory port and polish on the exhaust and a porting job on the intake side of the head. Also to be noted the C5 and the B16B make more power than they are rated but the rev limiter gets in the way of that. Both of these Type R engines are among the best examples in the world as far as N/A enginering goes and the cream of the crop when talking B series. Worth the mony for the swaps.......IMHO no, not if you plan on modding. Now if your going for show I say they are worth it or if you plan on building a N/A beast simply because honda has allready done half the work for you.

truth^

but for the record, all dohc vtec motors are zero-balanced. they have to be to make a warranteeable 8K motor.
