Default What engine do I have?

I'm looking around to replace the engine in my 93 civic ex. Is it the d15b? Im looking for a direct replacement

If it's the factory engine, it'll be a D16Z6. If you're looking for a used engine, try craigslist; you should be able to pick one up for around $300.

Ok thanks, is there a spot on the engine where they brand the engine type? just in case its not the stock motor?

look to the left of the exhaust manifold, theres a flat spot with the engine designation inscribed on it. stand by for pic edit...

S20 1583429, where can i find what that is? lol sorry im asking so many questions

Sounds like you are looking at the transmission and not the engine.

The engine code should start with a D15 or D16. My guess is a D16z6.

Should the timing belt cover not also have a sticker with the engine code (assuming the sticker is intact)?

the sticker is faded and cant read what it once said, so i've been looking elsewhere for it

All right, check the location in MBrent's picture. Chances are the trans. ID is stamped on the bell housing right next to the engine ID; look to the immediate right of where you saw "S20..."; S20 is the transmission ID.

Found it! it was too the right of the code covered in grime. Thanks for your help it is a D16z6
