what kind of b16a do i have

Default what kind of b16a do i have

my friend just bought a b16a honda engine he was told it was a 99-00 si b16 but it doesnt have b16a2 stamped on the block we need to know what kind on engine this came out of n if its obd 1 or obd 2 on the block it says b16a n below is a block # 3527402 need help wanting to drop the engine in his 96 honda ex this month help us out bro

Well if its out of an Si, then its a B16A2.

i thought it had to have b16a2 stamped on the engine n not just b16a

b16a sounds like one of the low mile JDM motors you can get that are brought overseas. I know there is d15b and h22a, so it makes sense. This is without researching though so don't quote me on that. lol

does it have a oil cooler on the back of the block where the oil filter goes...
if so its a older gen intergra obd0 if it doesnt have it then its a newer gen integra engine obd1-2
it dont matter though you can still swap and put it in...

Would u have to get a OBD2 to OBD1 wiring harness for it to work? Since it's going in 96 honda ex, which is OBD2.

He needs to have an OBD2a - OBD1 harness in there.

Well the thing is im the dude with the engine. And i got a p2t ecu and a s4c transmission. So the thing is if i get that harness it wont work for the ecu because that only works for any OBD1 92-95 ecu's right. And the ecu # and transmission # both lead toward a 99-00 civic si stuff i think.
