Alright not too long ago I purchased a 1996 civic ex coupe and I was told it was possible that I have a Vtec but it says nowhere on the block whether it is or not so I just figured it was a regular B15 instead of the D17 which I was hoping for. So the question is how do I figure out what my engine is? thanks for the help.

Ps. correct my engine types if needed.

 

There is no such engine as a B15 and i have no idea why you would want a D17, i've heard it called one of the worst engines Honda has ever built. You have a D16Y8 i believe.

yes you have the d16y8. it's the sohc vtec motor.

has the engine code been ground off with like a file or something that scratched it off, if so then something sounds fishy like maybe stolen engine?

 

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help, and one more thing, my cousin has a 94 5.0 mustang that he has been bragging about and putting me down constantly cause I drive a civic, what all should I do to get up to enough horse power to shut him up for a while? and appx. costs for this project. what do you guys think?

get a turbo kit off ebay get it tuned and go spank his a@@ lol
