well my mechanic told me that the problem im having with the smoke when the car gets into v-tec is actually thismofo right here , problem is i dont know the name. also when i replaced my spark plugs they were all black and he said it was because of this too.

well, all that does is control the air/fuel mixture at idle and regulates the amount of air going through the intake mani's butterfly. i'm not sure that's your problem. but since vtec has a more aggressive fuel map, it might have a relation to the valve. but the iac is a thermo valve, so i'm kinda confused about it.

 

I think maybe your mechanic smokes rocks. Maybe get a second opinion

they're talking about the mechanic, because.............he doesn't know what he's talking about, considering he just said, this thing here is the problem, and he didn't even tell you what the '****' is called! lol

 

the idle air control valve doesnt even have oil in it, its has air and acoolant flowing through it, and even then those are seperated by metal. and even if it was broken / stuck open, it would only cause a high or lumpy idle, it wouldnt cause it to be rich cause it still influences the map sensor. i agree that your mechanic was smoking some crack, sorry to say.
