i just got a 96 dx hatch its my second one last one got reposessed exept my last one had a d15y this one has a d15b did they do swap and where is the d15b from can anyone share some knowledge thanks

 

1988-1991 Honda Civic DX/LX (D15B2)
1988-1991 Honda Civic HF/CRX HF (D15B6)
1992-1995 Honda Civic DX/LX (D15B7)
1992-1995 Honda Civic Cx (D15B8)

 

If it doens't have a number after the "B" then it's a jdm D15B vtec.

 

92-00 civic's, all of them

 

92-95 EX/SI's have D16Z6's and 96-00 EX's have D16Y8's

 

I am not speaking about carsin the U.S.

 

my just says d15b no # after the b does that mean its a jdm vtec engine

 

There are a few versions of the jdm d15b: carbed, EFI non-vtec (OBD1), vtec (OBD1/2), and 3-stage vtec (OBD2). I'm not sure how to recognize the differences other than vtec will have a vtec solenoid, and 3-stage has a silver valve cover, I think.

Someone correct me if this is all BS.
