I have a question about mpgs. I am in great confusion whether my mpgs are great or not. I have 1998 Civic EX Sedan with 143,000 miles. With 11.9g tank, I am getting ~294miles. Thats means ~25mpg.
So what are your thoughts???...good, bad, worse...lol.
It has automatic transmission and have snow tires on all tires. I don't think it has anything to do with cold climate 'cause I am using my snow tires all year long and in summer the temp can reach above 80F, but that the most I can go, 294miles.

That's a little low, but there are tons of things that can affect MPG. What is your driving style like? Fast and aggressive, or slow and defensive? Do you have a lot of junk in the car, like subwoofers and boxes, amps, clothes, bikes, etc? Are your tires properly inflated? What size tires are they?

There are other things you can look into. Your fuel filter and air filter could be a little clogged. You might need to throw a bottle of Lucas injector cleaner in your gas tank. You may want to do a compression check. If compression is low, that means less power. Put a can of Restore in the crank case and go for a couple hundred miles. See if that adds compression to help fuel economy.

I keep the total junk free, I have nothing in my trunk, other than spare tire.
I drive mostly on highways around 60-65mph, since its 4speed auto its the rpm idles at 3k-3200. Whether I drive fast or slow, the FE remains the same, even my dad who usually drive at normal pace gets the same average.
I got snow tires on it and its properly inflated. Is the some MPG loss is due to snow tires? Because I haven't changed it since 3 years.
I'll consider the tips you've mentioned in my next oil change/servive. Do you have any idea how much all things cost??

Fuel filter is a maintenance item. It's like... $15, maybe. The Lucas injector cleaner is like $4 at Autozone. The Restore is more like $6-7. If you do have wear on your rings and compression is a little low, toss in a can every oil change.

 

My dad said no to tire change cause it's like spending $400 dollars. So I'll just do the other things probably next month.
