Default '05 Civic EX vs. '05 Civic VP

From what I've read about the VP model, it's the same as the downgraded DX with the addition of AC and a CD player, whereas the EX has more horsepower, a sunroof, and power-everything.

That said, is there a noticeable difference in performance, reliability, and gas mileage between these two vehicles? I'm in the market for a used car, and I've pretty much set on an '05 civic, I'm just not sure which package I want.

Any info provided will be appreciated.

On the older Honda's (early 90's) the DX had less power and a tad better fuel economy. I did some quick searching and couldn't find anything specific but this (From: http://www.new-cars.com/2005/2005-honda-civic.html):

DX, VP and LX models use a standard 1.7-liter inline 4-cylinder engine capable of 115 horsepower at 6100 rpm and 110 lb-ft of torque at 4500 rpm. It is teamed to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic setup.

All models under the EX name use a similar 1.7-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. However, it pumps out 127 horsepower at 6300 rpm and 114 lb-ft of torque at 4800 rpm.

Great gas mileage has always been standard with the Civic, and 2005 is no exception to the rule. Even with all the configuration possibilities, the worst rating you can get is 29/38 mpg (city/highway).

I wish I could find the page that had the fuel economies of the different models for my 00. I remember the DX getting atleast 4 miles more to the gallon then my EX - with about 20 less horse though.

I'd say the main reason the DX/LX models get better gas mileage, is because they have no VTEC, and are tuned a little more for fuel economy.
