Ive had this 2002 Honda Civic for 2 years and I'm still trying to figure out, why it sounds like a race car when I accelerate. I'm confussed... HELP!!!!

 

I had a 2005 Civic LX, it was real loud too when I would accelerate hard (which was rare). I'm talking about putting the pedal to almost the floor, and the RPMs going to 4000-5000, sometimes red lining. Is that what you're doing?

 

Ummmm do you have a complete exhuats system that is not broken?

Is the car stock? You need to give us more information, such as what is a "race car sound" in your opinion.

 

Like cvcrcr said, check the exhaust for leaks and confirm the muffler is the stock type and not a "fart can".

Aftermarket intakes also make the car much louder than stock when you accelerate. The complicated design of the stock intake is mostly to muffle noise.
