I hypermile with my '87 Civic. I get around 36 mpg in the summer, but it's way worse right now. This article is actually a little unimpressive, considering that these 90's Civics get 70 and 90 mpg:

I have to admit, the 2007 civic looks a lot better. A LOT better...

What a trash review. One trip of 100 miles does not an average make. If I start rolling down a hill with my '06 LX motor turned off and measure the amount of gas used at the bottom as 1mile traveled/0gas used = infinite mileage, it would be just as accurate as their test. Figures don't lie, but liars figure. I would be interested in what the mileage would be in a daily drive situation, though.I wishwe had the diesel version over here.

i agree it was a pretty junky review... i mean, why would a gas mileage esimator on the car be wrong... and how come their calculations would be like, what, 30 mpg different?

kinda dumb.

dude i dont know if you guys watch any top gear thy took the v12 audi and it was a diesel and they took it like 800 miles and never ran out of gas and never filled the tank. thats amazeing o.o. I think the reason the v12 went so far cause the guy had a turbo, if you dont make a turbo produce boost it automises air? correct, but anyways none the less cheers for the diesel civic!

im such a fan of top gear, it could be considered a religious following.
well, not that extreme.
but i remember that episode it was pretty amazing. but you gotta take into account a few things. first off it was really amazing it made it as far as it did. however, he was driving at really low rpms the whole time, no heater, etc etc and fuel guages arent always...truthful like empty isnt REALLY empty. you know?
diesel does get good gas mileage, but i still think that the review that those two guys did was kinda... not that great. only 100 miles and "their calculations" were totally different from the trip computer's calculations. also, if he said that he did 105 miles and got 3.7 gallons when he filled up, (if you look at the gas island readout thing) thats like...not more than 60 mpg. its way less.
