I have heard but Im not sure that only 94 and 95 ex came with vtec, but all 92 95 si comes with vtec. Not sure on the price for you, I know if you buy it in cali youll get raped. Seen Sis sell for upwards of 6k here for nothing special, just clean.
92-95 Civic EX/Si with the D16z6 has vtec, as well as the 92-95 VX civic with the D15z1, the DX/LX/CX don't have VTEC. both were sohc vtec though.

Um.. thats all fine and dandy... he spent tons of money yeah, any motor can be fast but:

1. whats that have to do with a stock D series motor? nothing.
2. A stock Honda D series sohc vtec motor is for gas savings.
