so im wanting to buy a car a.s.a.p. and at one of the dealerships they have a realy nice looking honda automatic civic ex coup for sale at 4,900$ the only concern is the 299XXX km's on the engine. is it still worth to pick up?

 

In my opinion, $4,900 is way too high for a Civic with 299k kilometers (186k miles). Do some comparison shopping on Craigslist in your local area.

 

not only that, but $4900 is high for a 1994 Civic, regardless of submodel or mileage.

i know in canada, civics are priced wayy higher than here in the US. its very hard to find one for under 5k no matter how many miles...

 

What about crossing the border to purchase a Civic in the USA? Or do they slap you with ridiculously high taxes to prevent such purchases?

 

wouldn't the price of Civics in Canada be expected to be higher because of the value of the dollar?

 

Lately the Canadian dollar is worth almost as much as a US dollar (for a while it was actually higher). Today $1.00 C = about $0.97 US, so the $4900 CAD car is costing about $4750 US. Still way too much.

 

oh yeah, forgot about the fact that the gap has narrowed

 

Also, try to find one that is a 5 speed...... in the long run, you will be much happier!!
