Exclamation 95' civic ex 1.6L vtech

Hello, I just bought a 2 door 95' civic ex with 187,000 miles. I am not very familiar with Hondas as this is the first one I have owned. I was just wondering if anybody has any tips on things I could do to make it faster or anything I could do to it in general, thank you.

motor swap!!! b18b go really cheap (1.8L DOHC no VTEC), b18c not so cheap but still affordable(1.8L DOHC VTEC), h23 go really cheap (2.3L DOHC no VTEC), H22a still kinda cheap (2.2L DOHC VTEC) but there are so many more swaps to do like a b20z with b16a head. this makes massive hp and tq using only OE parts, b18a with b18c head. really realiable. OR one of my favs. B18C1 block with B16A head, ITR intake manifold AKA poormans type r. its all up to you

my honest opinion... exhaust, high-flow cat, turbo (do your suspension first though! VERY important!)

If you decide to keep the current engine, then you should change the timing belt.

Welcome to the forums! For future reference, it's vtec -- there's no H. Don't worry about it, though... everybody spells it with an H at first

Anyway, definitely change the timing belt soon. For a little power boost (let's be honest... maybe 10hp), go with an intake, a header, a full cat-back exhaust, and maybe a high-flow catalytic converter. Also, though it won't make power, I highly advise suspension work. My old civic had about $1000 worth of suspension work (Ground Control coilovers, KYB adjustable shocks, poly rear LCA bushings, front strut tower brace), and it was hands-down the best thing I could have done to the car. The handling was infinitely improved, and it made the car way more fun to drive.

If you want a huge power boost, I'd do some heavy research on turbo systems. Dollar for dollar, it's the second best thing you can do to make power (the best being a nitrous build).

Hope you find this helpful. Also, spend some time reading the stickies... they're really helpful with trying to figure out what you want to do and why the mods do what they do.
