Default 96-00 civic si information please?

Hi, i am looking to buy a civic si 96-00
am wondering if any of the years are better for any reasons
how often should the timing belt be changed
do you lose alot of power from the automatic from standard
are parts / repairs cheap / easy
do it yourself / mechanic or honda serviced
are there any large / common / expensive problems i should be aware of when looking at these vehicles

i looked at one and its window motor needed replacing, and was wondering if thats an easy do it yourself fix, or not and if it is an expensive fix or not?

Thanks alot for any help

Just to let you know your si is our ex. so if you want to know anything about your car, you might research the ex model

they all have their advantages and disadvantages to one another. they're all reliable however.
honda says 60k miles for the timing belt
the automatic is less powerful than the manual
repairs are easy, price depends on what part it is
only problem to look out for is rear quarter panel rust

Actually, the 96-00 Civic service manual (see link below) recommends timing belt replacement at 105k miles for 97-00 Civics. For 96 Civics, 60K miles under severe conditions and 90k miles under normal conditions.

oh yea my bad RonJ

sorry to thread jack, but what would severe conditions be considered as? I live in FL and it gets pretty freakin' hot down here. You walk outside right now in the summer and you start sweating immediately.

I live in the Houston area (HOT and Humid; five months of summer, with day temps averaging 95F). My timing belt looked pristine when I changed it at 105k miles.
