Is the 98 Civic HX -158k worth for 3k?
Hi.
I've looked for civic within $5k. I found the 1998 HX-158k auto for $3k. Is it worth to buy even thoughI knew civic will be easily over 200k?My budget is only $5k with tax etc, so I couldn't find any better one.
Thanks

I have been looking at Civic prices in the Houston area, and $3K would seem to be a reasonable price, if the engine and body are generally in good shape. Used Civics seem to be a hot commodity due to high gas prices.
I paid $2900 for my 96 ex with 122k...... at first glance you might think I paid a bit too much, but I bought it from the original owner who maintained it very well and kept EVERY reciept from day one.
So, it's all a matter of condition.... it could or could not be worth the money, it all depends.
As far as the market on Civics(and Corollas) go, they are at an all-time high due to the price of gas.
The HX gets better MPG then all of them, but the downside is (as the OP mentioned), parts can cost more for them and junkyards tend to have less of them around as well considering they were the least purchased models at the time.

Honestly, I wouldn't get it. Start checking craigslist and autotrader every day (and I mean every day)... eventually, you'll find a civic in your price range.
Also, for $5k, you can almost get a 99 SI. Then again, that's assuming the seller realizes they aren't worth $9k li.ke everyone seems to think [8D]
*side note: if anyone's wondering why there's a period in li.ke, it's because it's one of the words that causes problems with posting
