Either way, close to $700 for maybe 10whp. Boost is actually cheaper than that as far as $ per hp.

Figure $500 for i/h/e (let's say you found some deals on ebay and your exhaust sounds like a p***ed off bumblebee in a tin can). That's $50/hp you just spent.

Figure $2,000 for a basic bare-bones "just what you need" turbo setup. Now, for a very (very) conservative estimate, let's say (for some reason) you only squeeze a 50whp gain out of it. That's still $40/hp you spent.

Let's face it... boost is technically cheaper on these cars

50WHP from a turbo setup? Geez, should be more like ~100WHP at least. (so about 200WHP on a D-series) lol Anything under that is just like, why even bother.

You also have to factor in though that most of the money in I/H/E is taken up by the exhaust, which still remains with a turbo setup and is an important supporting mod.

I only spent $250 on intake/header. The rest was all exhaust.

Well, a $2,000 turbo setup doesn't buy much, and I honestly wouldn't try to get 200whp from a $2k turbo setup (that's just me). But even if you'd factor the $400 for an exhaust into the turbo numbers, it's still $48/hp. And we all know my power estimate was very, very conservative for the turbo end of the comparison

Realistically, you'd be looking at a 100whp gain, which would (assuming a $2,400 setup including the exhaust) come out to $24/hp.

secret weapon intake Intake/greddy Header/greddy Exhaust will give a 6th gen ex approximately a 12.8HP increase.

Add a high flow cat and you probably get 2 more HP out of that.

Of course with a turbo setup the exhaust and high flow cat will have a greater influence than on a N/A

btw my exhaust/intake setup cost $550, but I got about $150 of that back from microsoft's live.com cashback program.

so youre sayin you see a 10% increase from an EX and an even higher increase on non ex models? O btw douchecanoe...i lost power when i put my greddy evo2 catback on. 2.5 inch exhaust on a stock y8? Pfff it got slower and youre gonna sit there and tell me that with a less restrictive header added...youre gonna see more power? wow...i want a civic like that. If i could gain 10% more power with bolt ons, i woulda stayed NA. O yea...fully built NA d series make no power at all...where did you get your info?

I'd LOVE to see where you got those numbers from. Independent dyno testing on freshly calibrated dynamometers with altitude correction and the dynos were getting a perfect rpm reading, I assume?

The d16z6 and y8 were designed very close to their potentials as far as flow is concerned. That's why with the stock cam they see next to no improvement from i/h/e. You're not going to see a 10% increase in power from a 125/128bhp powerplant simply by changing the very basics.

I'm not arguing but for sake of discussion, Danomatic93 just did 3 dyno runs on his 5th gen EX with I/H/E and a phearable chip, and got 118 WHP on his best run. I'd be interested to know what he was making stock. If he has a dyno run of stock, this would be great info to add to this discussion.

P.S. Your Mustang/Honda bias has really been shining through the past couple of days. I'm starting to get tired of hearing about it, no offense.

We all understand that your Mustang is faster than most Civics on this site. But do you really have to tell us that every time you post?

And no, I'm not asking you to leave, so don't take it that way.
Well i like hearing bout his mustang lol somethin different and these threads are worthless lol
