advice on exhaust?
basically I want to start with the exhaust for performance and add a nice little sound to my civic.
yeah some of my friends were saying get a flow master and a long pipe, that the short pipe makes kinda a weird sound. so are those 50 dollars ones worth it at autozone or kragen or pepboys? whats the labor gonna charge me? |
Labor will be between 50-150 dollars. The cheapest route is to have him bend the pipe for you, then take it home and and weld/clamp your new muffler or tip on, and hang it on your civic yourself. If it's a catback, it will be cheaper.
Idk, what the long/short pipes your were talking about are. You'll get more "performance" out of a offset inlet/outlet muffler, a high flow cat, and wider piping from the header on. This will cost more though. If you plan on turboing... save your money and put a tip on the end of a 2.5 inch pipe. Because the mufflers you are looking at produce back pressure. And you don't need any with a turbo. |
thanks that helps a lot..
The only thing i'm worried about is still passing smog. I don't want to have to do it illegally (if i have to i will) but it'd be nice if i didnt have to. |
Ohhhhh, I didn't see that you live in California. Here in Missouri we don't worry about it. But good luck!

flow master mufflers aren't really used on Civics too often.
You won't get barely any performance out of just exhaust. Also, you have a D15B7 engine, which is a pretty weak engine. If you are looking for performance, your first mod should be swapping on a VTEC head. Gains you about 25 HP at the crank and costs only a couple hundred dollars to do. |

Pretty much all you will get out of a new exhaust now is a louder sound. |
