Default Anyone run 87 octane on an SI?

Don't all year models of the Civic Si run 93 octane? When I had a 90 Si I ran 87 fine!

How about you? What year model you got and will it run 87 octane?

My 1993 Mada MX6 LS V6 specified Premium too but it ran on 87 octane fine.

87 is so cheap compared to 93!

2008 Si here. It will get nothing but 93 or better. It's only 20 cents more than the cheapstuff. Stop being a cheapskate.

Sis use a higher compression, so by putting cheaper gas in it, the gas explodes a lot faster and will hurt the engine down the road (you will hear knocking)

Don't engines do an automatic thing like retard the timing in case of bad / low octane gas?

I don't have an Si now, but I dream of getting one but I can't afford or store a 4th car! Passed a beautiful Blue 99 hopped up one on Craigslist for $6500! If I didn't have my HX now I would have bought it!

My preferred chespest gas is Chevron Techron 87 at a low priced Chevron station. Used to do Walmart gas but the Chevron is worth it at only 4 cents more per gallon.

It does do that to an extent, but i would rather pay the higher price to know that im getting the best fuel out there. It also helps on your mpg to get the best one on an si

If you get the 87 from a Top Tier gas supplier it's very clean gas. Like Shell, Chevron, Phillips 66...

I buy from amoco, and supposedly the best one has special additives that clean your engine as well

I run 87 in my 92 Si hatch EVERY time I fill up. 274,000 KMS and going strong. Comon its only 9.2:1 compression...then again, I dont really care about the engine, its coming out.

clean or not... ocatane rating is simply the resistance to detonation. Being "clean" has nothing to do with it. "performance" motors need premium fuel.
