Default auto-stick conversion?

Has anyone done this to a Civic? I prefer manual transmissions but the traffic/area I live in makes a clutch a real pain in the rear (it's all flat and there's lots and lots of traffic). I know that it hurts sports car enthusiasts when I say stuff like that, but it's true!

At any rate, my pops has an Audi with an auto-stick in it, and man was that thing ever fun to drive. It's a ridiculous thing for me to be thinking about doing to a little econobox, but if it's possible, I just might try it. Has anyone else attempted such foolishness?

Thanks in advance for any feedback. This forum has been a great place to start learning.

Are you asking if you can covert an auto civic to a auto/manual civic? Kinda like audi's shiftronic?

Exactly. I don't know the jargon, but it's like a clutchless manual transmission.

Umm, I've never heard of the done on a Civic. I think you need a special kind of tranny. My suggestion...

...buy an Audi. lol

Hehe, yeah I sorta figured I might hear that - hell, it's worth asking about, anyway.

But yeah, you're probably right, man. Even if I did it, I don't know how dependable it would actually be. I might ask a couple of garages if they've ever done this sort of thing - I'll let you know.

I'm sure it's possible.. the question should be "how much work?" or "how much will it cost?"... anyway, it's definitely a good idea

could probably steal one of the manumatics out of a base rsx and run it in any car with a k series swap

for older gens... i don't think there's a direct bolt on method of doing so
