Default B18c1 or B18c jdm itr

I was looking to get an eg hatch and swap in a b18. I really want a itr swap but I just dont know if it is worth the money. I have a friend who has a usdm gsr motor and just with i/h/e he dyno'd @ 171whp, which is around the whp of a itr i heard. I know there is more than just power that is important to 1/4 mi times etc. but idk if its worth the extra $1500 for the shorter gears, and the lsd but idk though. So has anyone experienced both of these set-ups with gsr vs. itr and is it worth buying the itr motor, or should i just stay with getting a gsr? Because i was just thinking going with a gsr with bolt-ons, maybe eventually itr/ctr cams and a good tune. Thanks for your help!

must have been on a low reading mustang dyno if he pulled 171whp as they in general pull 150 to 155whp and 160 with bolt ons, the ITR is a better made engine, better cams, shorter stroke, hell of alot better head and transmission.

i would say ITR because thats what i did and i lost to a fully built gsr but only by a half car and i am stock except i/e. so it is your choice i made the same one about 4 months ago. and quaife lsd would cost you around $1100 and then you aren't getting the better final drive so i would go ITR

so it seems like itr would be the better choice if i can find a good clean one for a good price. If i could find one i would just do bolt-ons, ecu, new clutch and a good tune. I also wanna know what would be a good clutch going with that set-up? Something that is very streetable because this will be my only car. So I was thinking maybe a stage II but idk how harsh that would be. and also roughly what kinda times would i be looking at with a good-decent driver? low 14's or would i break into the 13s??? and 99civicricer- how do u like that your set-up? thanks for your help again

i did it myself and it actually isn't hard to do if you have all of your **** together. it only took about 2hrs to get theengine in and running. if you took it to a shop they would probably charge you out the @$$.

yea as far as the swap goes, get a friend or ur dad or atleast 1 person that knows what they are doing. a lift and a garage with some tools will do it. i helped my friend with his other friend swap a vr6 into his gls jetta, it took us about 5 hrs but his dad also had to fabricate a few things
