Default Bad Fuel Economoy On New Civic? What!?

I was reading Civic reviews on this website: http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/honda...qPbUB.pC5uiL8F

and see alot of people are only getting (20 - 25 mpg) with their new civics? Is there a break in period or something because that's pretty damn low.

Thanks for the help

Yes mileage tends to improve with the first few thousand miles.

A new engines cylinders are not honed super smooth. In fact there are micro ridges that create friction. These ridges wear down during the course of break in and result in less friction within the motor.

That guy also claims that you can make more HP by making your intake ports smaller than by making them larger.

On my LX MT, I've never gotten less than 34 mpg, and it's usually 35 or slightly higher. This is on a 65/35 city/hghwy mix and shifting pretty strictly at 3k. It's been that way since my first tank...

The factory knows best. Listen to Honda. They wouldnt have one of the worlds most reliable cars if they didnt know what they were doing.
