Default Battery replacement cost question.

I am buying a 2005 Civic Hybrid and am wondering what a ballpark figure for the Hybrid battery(s) replacement cost I will be looking at when that time comes. I am getting it for a really good price from a family member so I believe it''l be worth it. It has 80k miles and has been serviced regularly and has been very well maintained. Thank you.

I have been told that the hybrid batteries last about 6-8 years with a replacement cost of between $3000-$6000 ea. As for Honda I don't know exactly but those are the numbers I was given overall for all the Hybrid vehicles.
Personally I can't see were you save anything overall to own a Hybrid vehicle. It reminds me of those that buy diesels in pickups then all they haul is the kids & groceries to & from Walmart.

I've also heard ballpark figures of $3,000+ for battery packs, but I don't know of any that have been replaced, even on Prius'. I still see 1st gen Honda Insights running around, too, so I imagine they have a pretty good lifespan (and are probably much better than they were in a 12-year-old Insight). With yours only having 80k miles and having been charged off the engine as it should be, I would bet your Civic has a long life ahead of it.

And I can totally see the appeal of a hybrid. With the city traffic I sit in daily, I'd probably save $1,000 or more on fuel every year.
