I would use Royal Purple, and anywhere from 3,000-5,000 miles a change. I do mine at 4,000.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate all opinions ........... but isn't Royal Purple very expensive? And 4,000 highway miles an unnecessarily short interval?

damn, you gonna be driving coast to coast? Royal purple will probably be your best or a mobil1 lubricant.

Synthetic oil, either Royal Purple or Mobil1. just make sure that if u put synthetic in, that u always use synthetic. might be a lil more pricey, but it sure will help get u over those 200k miles.

Your cars not just gonna go over 200k without ANY problems, youll run into things.. but oil is a main component, you spend on oil, your engine is lubricated better = great things.. Royal purple is the way to go.. just buy wholesale or something.

I've read good things about Pennzoil Platinum aswell as Mobil1. Both can befound at Wal-Mart. Where does one get Royal Purple and how does it compare to Mobil1 and Amsoil in Hondas? Thanks!!

I have 5 free oil changes atthe dealership. I'mguessing they will not use a synthetic for these free changes. I'll ask them to, but I doubt they will. I'll find out what they do use. After the freebies, I'll take over changing the oil & filter.

Also, what is a good filter for the new Civic?

OEM is probably the best bet. I've also heard alot of good things about NAPA Gold filters.
