Default Building a decent Ca civic?

Hello.

As the title says im in Ca and im wondering what options there are in Ca for building a fast civic. What kinda swaps are legal?

Are there any swaps that will have the ability to have legal forced induction??

you can swap in motors that:

-aren't stolen
-have the same obd system
-up to us emissions standards (so that means no jdm motors, well you can convert to us emissions)
-have the proper exhaust system (mainly oem exhausts)
-have a factory cat

Is there a particularly popular swap for say your body style civic or the previous body style that still allows for a legal turbo kit??

the only CARB legal turbo kits are the greddy and the edelbrock. However, for the greddy, once you add a BOV and an intercooler to it....it's no longer CARB legal. Even with the greddy kit, you will still not pass your smog check since it run's pig rich unless you get it tuned. The edelbrock kit is fully CARB legal, with this kit you shouldn't have any problems passing smog, but the're a little pricey, around 3,200-3,500 but it's top notch.

For swapping an engine, you just have to swap an engine from the same year as your's or newer.

You mean there are people who slap on FI kits and dont get them tuned??

My question on the engine swap was more about which one can i swap in legally and still have the option of legalforced induction. Or am i better off sticking with the D16 out of an Ex and modifiying that?

some people just runned their e-manage straight out of the box[&:] The eldelbrock kit for d16 uses the turbo link for it's fuel management and come already tuned to 10-11psi (around 210hp ), so no need to tuned unless you want more power.

well the only fully legal turbo kit for CA is the eldelbrock which makes kits for the d16y8,d16z6, b18c1 and b16a2 engines only. To have a legal engine swap you have to swap a engine of the same year of your car or newer.

I will just turbo d16, a guy from turbod16.com is making more than 300 hp on his d16 with the edelbrock kit and still CARB legal
