is thier any advantage of runing a short air intake with the filter in the engine bay during the winter?



i got 2 cheap intakes... one that crapy clear coat thats all clouded... and my coldair intake that im runnen now...

i just got my AEM dryflow filter and wondering if i should chop my old CAI into a short air intake.... at least for winter......

SRI for winter, that way your filter wont get damaged... but i like to run SRI all the time anyway

 

Unless you're driving in 2 foot deep puddles or you're driving around the North Pole, I think your CAI should stay clean. That's what I run in the winter. Haven't had any problems...

However, also have had no snow.

 

I had CAI V2 AEM on my integra and it was a pain in the ***. I live in so cal and it doesnt rain here alot but every time it did id almost blow my head and my filter would get super dirty. If your going to go cold air for the winter just make sure you get an air bypass valve...it goes in the engine bay on your intake so if the filter hits water you can pull air from the engine bay like a sri.

 

I have to drive through snow all the time. CAI would suck. I just split mine in half and run it as a short ram. I checked down where the CAI was the other day, and there's so much stuff that would've been stuck to the filter.

 

If your slick you could stick with the cold air you just have to be careful about the water...It is possible to drive through it without seizing your motor...I used to do this alot but you have to drive slow and be really concious about throttle control butits bad for you car so u should try and stick to ram air.
