Carbon Fiber?

Carbon Fiber?
I just bought a 2007 Civic coupe and I have a couple plans for it but I want to get some info first. I don't plan on going wild, just wheels, lowering springs, simple stuff like that.
Back about 10 years ago I had a Civic coupe and I went crazy (turbo, nitrous, tons of engine mods, body kit, ect...). Around that time Carbon Fiber had just started coming on the scene. Unfortunately my car was stolen, I was devastated, so I left the tuning sport. I never really learned anything about CF. I know it is strong and light weight but other than that I know nothing.
Like I said above one of the mods I plan on doing is wheels and of course the wheels will be bigger than stock. Now since new wheels will probably weigh more I was trying to come up with some ideas to offset that weight increase. One of these ideas were CF hood and trunk lid.
So besides looking cool why are people using Carbon Fiber? Is the reason so many people are using CF the weight reduction? Is it worth it to spend the money for a CF hood and trunk lid to reduceweight? Any and all information on CF would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Carbon Fiber?
98% of carbon fiber hoods are 100% carbon fiber they are layed over a plastic hood shaped piece. If you cand find a 100% carbon fiber hood thats were you will really save weight, CF hoods are more for looks than anything these days, how many people areound town are taking ther cars to the track

cf looks so sic ona clean car. ihate seeing people get cf from a buddy that has fading and crap or there car is a pos or has a pos paint job and shoulda spent the money on that. but ya bro cf looks so sic if thecar is clean and it saves weight. if you havea girl tell her that it will save gas by losing weight. lol
