for the shop it will be expensive, you could do it yourself but its aloooot of work you basically strip the motor down to the block and redo the whole engine, its deffs time consuming, alot more cars out there w.o head gasket problem

Yea GOOD LUCK. I was looking on Craigslist today in Sacramento there are more Honda's FOR SALE than anything else. They were cheap. If there are that many in Sacramento then my guess is in most Cities there are bunches also.

I'm beginning to think that's the only gasket you know of in an engine. This is the second thing you've insisted is a head gasket problem when it's plainly not the case in two days. Also, head gaskets on an inline four are not a huge deal. I don't see any reason the engine should have to come out (I don't even pull Subaru boxer engines for head gaskets) and I seriously doubt it'll be $2k, even at a dealership.

OP, if it's burning a noticeable amount of oil (all engines burn a slight amount of oil, even new ones; there's actually a manufacturer's specification for the maximum amount of oil burn-off) I'd stay far, far away. That's the kind of thing you really don't want to mess with.
