Default cold air intake?

Hey guys! I'm new to mods, and I was wondering if a cold air intake helps gas mileage. I've heard that it does, but I would think that anything that helps HP would reduce it. Is this the first upgrade I should make, or what? Are there any improvements that can be made to performance without sacrificing mileage? Also, is a K&M air filter really worth it? I'm driving an '03 EX automatic. Thanks.

Yes I think it does too.

It does infact help your gas mileage. Do not be fooled, it is not going to be a drastic improvement in your gas mileage.

yeah, a few MPG... but people tend to drive harder with mods so you will probably see a drop in MPG with your leadfoot haha. But it does increase fuel efficiency

The basic I/H/E will increase it, yes. But, it also depends how you drive, if you shift in the 2~2.5k rpm range, and drive smart, then you'll get better gas, but if you go up to like 5 or 6k rpm THEN shift, or drive like a hardass, you'll lose more gas mileage, simply because its better airflow, and you'll lose more gas with mods, then without.

If you go intake, get a AEM v2, would be your best bet. If not, get a SRI.
