z6 for the win because if you plan on boosting your engine, it is going to be a hell of a lot easier to do it with a z6 head instead of a y8 head

i believe so, you have to get the distributor, intake manifold and a couple of other items to do the head swap.

In a nutshell yes. I haven't done all the research yet, but will soon. I'll also be posting a DIY on the y8 to z6 head swap in the Spring. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you can use most, if not all of the y8 components on the z6 head. (ie, IM/TB, vtec selenoid, dizzy, etc..)

If you're going all motor, than the y8 is actually a better head, as it has slightly higher CR. But, if you're headed down the boost path, there are a couple significant advantages of running the z6. First, like I said the z6 is .5 lower CR. Second, the y8 has ridiculous timing, and is VERY temperamental about it. For tuning's sake, the z6 is a much more friendly motor, and you can squeeze a few more reliable horsies out of it as well.
