Default d16y8 worth to turbo?

Hello all,
Was looking at turbo kits.. would it be worth it with a stock d16y8?
I have about 120K on the motor.
i have a 97 civic ex lightly modded only an aem short ram and airmass catback exhaust.
Considering a header but the thought of a turbo kit came into mind.
Im thinking bad idea with stock internals.. But ive read that people have turbo on stock motors not exceeding 10psi boost.

Thanks

where are you looking at turbo kits at?
have you done a compression test to see if your motor is healthy?
do you know what all is required or needed to turbo it?
its not just bolt a turbo on and go.
also is your civic auto or manual?
and do you have the $$$ to spend and the avaliability to be able to not drive your car for a few days while installing the kit/ tuning?

yes the d16y8 will work turbo'd just they dont have as good of a oil pump like the other d series motors

its a manual i dont know the compressions, i was wondering if the stock motor is able to handle a boost without changing the internals.. i was just looking at ebay t3/t4 kits and wanted to do something for fu... probably just going to go with a header and wait for a B18 swap unless i have money to blow..

thanks

1: stay away from the ebay turbo kit, its a waste the turbo dont last long (poor quality)
2: as long as the engine is healthy and TUNED PROPERLY a stock motor will hold boost, there is several members here that are boosted.

Ebay turbo kits cheap for a reason.

The Y8 can hold ~250whp with stock internals. Personally, I wouldn't want a 2,400lb FWD car with much more than 250whp. Keep in mind that 250whp is with a competent setup (I personally would trust very few no-name products when it comes to a forced induction setup) and a good tune.

And the amount of boost means absolutely nothing; 10psi in a 1' long straw is less air than 10psi in a 1' long 3' sewer pipe. Horsepower (technically torque) is what matters as far as what an engine can safely produce on stock internals.
