Displacement : 1,590 cc (97 cu in)
Compression : 9.2:1
Power : 125 hp (93.2 kW, 127 ps) @ 6600 rpm
Torque : 101 ft·lb (14.7 kg/m, 144 Nm) @ 5200 rp

for reliability yes, power output, can be done It has VTEC so for a single cam engine its one of the best. over all yes its a good motor. what are your plans for it? You asked kind of a vague question hope this helps.

Ugrading all the internals, then adding a turbo and header for starters. But would this engine be good for that?

Yes, this engine will be good for that. I'm building a boosted Z6 myself. It is one of the best SOHC motors to build, IMO.
How much power you planning into throwing into this little motor?

Yes, the z6 is probably the most common USDM SOHC VTEC motor to use for building. I am looking for a block to continue with my High compression S/C build. I am looking for ~225 whp. A lot more power can be achieved with the motor though, I am just a low end torque junkie

Do some research on other peoples builds to see what they ended up with/money spent/parts used/etc.

Nobody noticed?

You can't have a turbo and header. The turbo manifold and downpipe will take place of the stock header. Either way, the D16Z6 is one of Honda's best SOHC engines IMO. The stock engine can support 200whp safely, and 250 if you feel like taking chances. Upgrade the internals and it's go time (though traction will be an issue if you're making enough power to necessitate forged internals). My vote would be get a Z6, piece together a custom turbo setup with a modestly-sized turbo, put 200whp down, and call it a day.

I would really like to see this car run 10 seconds in the quarter. I think I can achieve this but it is going to require time, patience and money.

It's the best USDM D-series engine, and one of the best SOHC engines made by Honda, if not the best. I think it comes in close second to the JDM D15B (OBD1 SOHC VTEC) which has slightly higher compression and slightly more power, but due to the extreme difficulty associated with figuring out which parts fit the D15B and then actually finding those parts, the D16Z6 is a better choice.
