Difference between d17A1 and d17A2

does any one know what the difference between the d17a1 and the d17a2 is?

a2 has vtec and is the ex model and makes 127 hp the a1 is in lx and theother one and makes 115 hp

I've heard the d17a1 (non-vtec), has a higher-compression rate (i.e. better for turbo-charging).
