Default engine swap

Hey everyone,

I recently found a 2001 Honda civic si coupe wreck. I was wondering if the powertrain would fit in my 98 civic lx.

Input would be much appreciated

I'm assuming we're talking Canadian civics since there was no USDM Si in 2001.

But yes, the engine will fit. If it's a D17a1 I wouldn't recommend swapping it, though. The D17 is just a flat-out poor design. If we're talking an '02 Si with a K20a3, definitely swap it.

hell, the k20a3 is kind of a worthless engine too. Its only rated at 160hp. The real problem is that it would be a really expensive swap because you need alot of custom parts and wiring harnesses when putting a K-series in an older car. If it was any other K20 and you were getting a great deal on it then I would say jump on it, but... I'd say skip.

oh, and yeah... if its a d17... STAY AWAY lol

It's a d17 in the Canadian 01-05 Si's
It's funny cuz all the kids who buy them think they're so fast... but my y8 can eat them somehow, ha ha, it's funny. My buddy's non-Si barely beat my old stock beaten up CRX Si... so heavy, these newer generations...
