Default Fuel types in an '07 Civic

G'day,

Has anyone had any experince in putting the higher octane fuel as opposed to the normal unleaded in the 06/07 civics? I just put the deposit on a 07 Civic Vti-L manual today, picking it up in december, and im wondering what the difference is in fuels perfomance and economy wise.

just stick with the regular unleaded unless otherwise specified on the owners manual. you have no need in putting premium in unless the motor needs it. If you are not ridding an si like me than stick to the cheap stuff

since when does a stock si require premium?... higher octane prevents detonation, its for boost and nitrous and high compression applications

I just ran two tanks of 92 octane premium through my 07 EX. I noticed no difference in mileage. It was actually a tick lower on the first tank, but the pump may have put a little extra in this time. It is also possible that Cito premium is crap. I'll try some BP or Mobil next time to see if they are any better.

Use what the owner's manual recommends. Going to a higher octane number than the engine is designed for will produce no benefit...and in fact, the engine will probably start and run more poorly. To those who say otherwise....I say show me the data...and "seat of the pants" dyno runs do not count!

06-08 Si's require premium per Hondas website.

yup the 06-07 si's and s2000's use premium fuel all other 06-07 hondas take regular, if you use premium in a regular 06 up civic you will see no change in mileage or peformance
