Hi
I have a 2004 Civic Vetec Sport 1.6. I have had it for almost 4 months. When travelling in either 3rd gear or 5th there is a vibration in the gear stick and a rattling noise. If I apply pressure to the stick it stops completely. the car has been back tothe Honda dealer under warranty and had the gearbox taken out and gone over where it was found to be in fantastic order. I took it back again and they put new straps on the gearstick. Which stopped the rattle in 3rd gear but not the vibrations and stopped the vibrations in 5th but not the rattle!!! The garage are at aloss as to what is causing it anyone else come across it???
At the point of selling and going for a Toyota!!!!

 

Have you tried changing the shifter handle?

 

You might need some new bushings.

 

probably the bushing or something.... and Vtec...

I maybe a artic lorry driver but I only a non mechanical girly!!!

 

sure I will try and help as much as I can. obivously you have a manual. your shifter handle is what you shift into gear with. the bushings are things that help to make sure you dont get metal on metal action. I do not know to much about bushings in a tranny but I am sure someone else will chime in and help
