RE: the GET READY FOR WINTER thread
If you live in a place that is really, REALLY cold, get an autostarter and a block/oil heater. Very, VERY good investments. I'm glad I have my autostarter, cuz it got so cold that the snow crystalized, and turned to powder, but the moisture from my warm car the night before, froze on the INSIDE of my windshield! That's *ssbackwards, going out to your car and scraping ice off the INSIDE of your windows!!! North Dakota S.U.C.K.S!!!

I don't know how annual winter precipitaion in ND compares to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (where i used to live), but I hear ya... We got almost 5 feet in 2 days one time, no joke. We were told to stay in our homes and wait for the National Gaurd to come dig us out.. Of course, being from up there me and all my buddies owned snowmobiles.[sm=badbadbad.gif]
aahhh...thats one thing I do miss about living up there, if the snow was so bad that I didnt feel like driving my car, it was perfectly acceptable to just hop on my sled and drive to work or school.

It's gotten pretty bad in Grand Forks. I've only been up here for a couple of winters, so I haven't seen 5+ feet of snow, but I have seen 60 below zero. And that is beyond cold. You stop shivering because your body's numb! [:@]
