Default Hatch vs Coupe (Handling)

How much better will a hatch handle than a coupe? I haven't seen actual numbers for weight distribution, but I assume it's better on a hatch, which would lead me to think it could potentially handle better. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

The biggest thing in the hatch's favor is that the rear wheels are more so at the corners of the car plus the hatch weighs around 200 to 300lbs lighter depending on the generation. A cooupe can handle just as good as a hatch though, the reason you see people wanting hatch's is more because they have a bit of a "cult" following as being the original performance minded civic produced by honda.

I think I need a Handling 101 lesson here. Does more weight in the back help a FWD cars handling?

You need to try and get about a 60/40 split on a fwd setup being it is well fwd. The hatch's have no more ability than a coupe or sedan.

you want the weight to be about equal front rear on any car, fwd, rwd, awd... to much weight at the front and it understeers, to little weight and it understeers.

I think I finally understand FWD.

How much weight is too much in the front before you start to oversteer too much on a civic?

Yea there is only a weight advantage, all 92-00 civic's use the same platform as far as suspension.
