higher octane gas

so i know this is kinda a noob question. but how exactly will high octane gas help me if at all. my setup is d16z6 i/h/e, oem head gasket, hi flow cat. i was reading the building a powerful n/a thread and noticed the higher comp with higher octane and i was just wondering is that true with stock pistons in my setup or only if i get hi comp pistons like in the thread?

you only need premium fuel if you're running a compression that is higher than that of a stock honda motor. other than that, your little d16 with a couple bolt ons do nothing for you using premium.

Only when raising to a higher compression and/or running F/I. Otherwise, as mentoined, its 100% pointless...

^ or have a compression ratio of 10.5:1 or higher (I believe that's the general rule of thumb... 10.5+ usually needs premium).

don't listen to the oil companies. they are already anally screwing your mom with no lube as it is.

it says right on the manual what octane the car needs. Screw the oil companies, always making you think you need the most expensive ones. The car maker will know best

Glad to see someone thinking sensibly...

Its funny that we have a thread like this, telling people that its a waste of money to get the "better stuff." Yet, we have an entire thread dedicated to how awesome Royal Purple is...
