What else do you need to konw?

 

Well I know a cat-back will help problay (5 hp)(but i dont have 600 for it now)and I think cold air is really just for looks, and down here in florida a cold air system(the filter) will get soaked. so what can i do (and turbo and nos is way to expinsive). I hope there is something left I can do.Correct me if i am wrong.

 

Well, there have been plenty of people on here that swear by AEM's water bypass valve, apparently someone did a test and submerged the entire filter in an aquarium and it still didn't suck up any water. If you don't have $600 for a GReddy then try getting a local muffler shop to install a custom cat-back. People have reported installs for $90-$150. Just ask them how much for mandrel bent, 2.25" pipe and then find yourself a quality muffler. Or I'll sell you mine for $150.

Also, if you don't have 600 then you aren't going to be able to get into the motor for heads or cams that won't do you any good unless your car can breathe right. There is a reason people start with I/H/E. It's the same reason as you lay the foundation of a house first.

I bet AEM would beg to differ on the CAI being "just for looks."

 

The bypas valve is super but Ive been old that they ned to be checked and or replaced every year... kinda iffy dependability IMO

what is the hp gain for cold air intake and for cat back, each.

 

5-10 roughly. I had a chitty air filter on the whole time that juked the car up about 2hp but gave it the loud noise... ive been fooled since, until I threw on a new expensive filter the other day. I gotta tell ya its a big difference. I even thought there was something wrong with my car!

 

Well, on the Ex, AEM says 8.7Hp.

I got ~ 8 Hp from my cat-back although I've never seen a dyno on them.
