Default how many miles can i expect to get out of my motor.

I just bought a 95 2 door and it has 170k on it. Im just wondering how long (on average) civic motor should last provided i go easy on it and change all the fluids.

I hear a lot of people say they'll go past 300k easy. I have a buddy with 485k on his original motor and never had it rebuilt yet.
Hondas are good motors.

Good Idea! The better u treat ur car the longer it will be with u lol. Change oil and other routine maintence. If it still has the original motor in it (SOCH) U wanna change the timing belt. Change that and ull be good to go.........see the prob with Single Over Head Cam motors is that in the event the timing belt snaps.....it just sorta startes denting valves and breaking stuff that costs tons of cash to get fixed. IF the Timing Belt hasnt been changed in awhile Definetly replace it.......its just a good problem preventor.

Yes because if they timing belt even slips for a fraction of a second have fun buying a new motor.

i have a 93 civic ex w/a d16 vtec in it and it has 365,000 miles on it and it still runs strong (by strong i mean i smoked my buddy's 01 mustang about two weeks ago w/a cold air intake as my only engine mod)

lol nice to see somebody called a stinker on that one. Unless his mustang was rolling on flats and had a clugged air intake I dont think 130hp(if that on a 365,000 mile car) is going to beat 175+

had a 90 civic EX and sold it with 220K, last i checked it was pushin 260K and runnin pretty damn good, my 98 EX has got 126K and i've only had to deal with a crack in the exhaust manifold.
