I'm really interested in getting a turbo for my 99' ex with a D16 engine, but.. I don't know if its worth the money, or if it'll blow my engine down the road.Would it be more worth my interest todo an engineswap with say.. a b16? back to the D16... What type of turbo can I run without pushing my engine over the limit and causing me even more money. The engine right now has a3-2-1 header with a full exhaust, anda lot of dress-up items that were on it whenI bought the car. I am aware that I will need to upgrade a few other things, like the ecu and fuel system. but the thing I don't know is how much of the fuel system I will need to upgrade. just the injecters? or a new fuel rail and pump also? I need lots of help guys.

 

you motor is good for about 230-250hp before you have to break into the botttom end

 

first of all u cant have a 3-2-1 header cause then ud have only 3 cylinders going out the exhaust pipe and flames shooting out the last one now for ur questions u can safely run about 8psi on stock internals as long as u have good compression and a healthy engine. for the fuel system u will need a hi flow fuel pump, larger injectors dsm 450s r cheap, and some sort of fuel managment chipped ecu is the best from what i hear, and then u will need to get ur car tuned by a tuner either on a dyno best way or street tuned not as good

 

it's not about the boost, it's about the HP.

I've yet to see a stockd series running more than 210hp for an extended period of time (with the exception of shop built/tuned weekend cars..)

Forty, so how big of a turbo do you recommend?my engine is practically brand new.It has 40k on it. and its original.I want to make it as fast as possiblebut not have totake it out and rebuild thebottom end. Any other suggestions?

 

a small turbo would spool faster but it won't make as much power as a bigger turbo. However, a bigger turbo would take longer to spool.

I really like the gt28 series because they are ball bearing, would spool fast at low rpm's and make a decent amount of power.

 

Who makes the gt28 turbo? I've heard of a lot of ball bearing turbo's. What other types of turbos are there?

 

dsm t25, its a smaller turbo but spools up real quick and there real cheap used or rebuilt if your on a budget like me lol still in school.

 

You wanna run 175-200WHP. Most smaller turbos that will be at about 8psi or so. If you get some ARP Headstuds and a good tune, you wont have too much to worry about. Use the search feature man.

 

dude you need to do a lot more research. A LOT more. You have no clue what your doing nor how to do it or what all involves having a turbo. I say research hardcore or just do a motorswap.
