Default Importing to Canada

Hey guys,

I'm going to be importing my '97 Civic DX coupe to Canada. They said I will have to modify the car so that it has daytime running lights. Has anyonehere done this, and if you have, was it expensive?

Thanks

I've been told it's pretty easy to import a car, just make sure you've got all your papers ready, and you have to call them (the customs) 48 hours in advance to tell em that you are coming... Then you'll have to pay the taxes and thats it! What the hell with the daylights?

.

You don't NEED them... yes it is the law that any vehicles sold in Canada after 1990 requires DRL's but if you are importing i am pretty sure that you don't have to put them in. Hell i see cars all the time that don't have DRL's lots of which are newer then 1990, Hell DRL's by deffinition are the high beams being givin half power. yet all Crystler vehicles(and most new GM's) use the amber turn signals for them...

In order to import the car, I have to pass two inspections; one at the border when I import the car, after which they will issue me a list of things that need to be done to the car, and then a final inspection within 45 daysto proveI have made all the required modifications.
